Regarded for decades as a Toowoomba icon, The Rock is synonymous with good times. Formerly The Gladstone Hotel for over 100 years, our name pays homage to the original venue, which locals endearingly called the “happy rock”. Building on this heritage and adding another layer to its history, The Rock was transformed in 2020, repurposing and evolving the space into the perfect place to spend an entire afternoon, rolling merrily on into the night.

What are your opening hours?

Monday to Wednesday we serve lunch from 11:30am to 2pm and dinner from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. Thursday to Sunday the kitchen runs all day from 11:30am, finishing at 9pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and at 8:30pm on Sunday.

Do I need to book?

Walk in any time, or book a table in the main bar and dining area or the beer garden to lock in your spot.

Why is it called The Rock?

Is there a dress code?

Come as you are, just make sure you’re looking the part. We’re a smart casual venue, so please arrive clean, tidy and presentable. Shoes must be worn at all times. Clothing and footwear should be clean and in good condition. Clothing featuring offensive language, imagery, gang or club insignia is not permitted.

After 5pm

No high vis, workwear or steel cap boots. Singlets are also not permitted.

After 9pm

No hats or other headwear, thongs or masseur sandals. Sportswear, tracksuits and jerseys are not permitted.

Sundays

Sunday is a little more relaxed, but the same rule applies: come clean, tidy and presentable.

Fancy dress

Fancy dress is welcome, provided it’s appropriate and respectful. Suitable footwear is required and faces must remain visible for identification purposes. Fake weapons are not permitted.

Private functions may have different dress requirements at the discretion of the Functions Coordinator. The Rock reserves the right to refuse entry or service at any time.

Can minors attend?

Yes. Minors are welcome at The Rock when accompanied by a responsible adult, subject to the venue’s licensing requirements and any applicable time restrictions.

Where can I park?

There are several convenient parking options close to The Rock Toowoomba, whether you’re staying for a quick drink, dinner or the whole night.

Covered & secure

For covered, secure parking, head to Oaks Toowoomba Hotel on Annand Street. Parking is available for a small fee and is a good option if you’re looking to keep your car undercover.

Grand Central

The Grand Central car park is another convenient option in the heart of the CBD, with entry via Victoria Street. The first three hours are free, with parking fees applying after that. Parking is also currently free after 6pm.

Ruthven Street

There is street parking available along Ruthven Street and throughout the surrounding CBD. Time limits and fees vary by location, so check the signage when you park. Council operated paid parking currently offers the first 30 minutes free when you start your parking session via the Toowoomba Parking app or meter.

Annand Street

The Neil Street and Annand Street car park provides another convenient off street option close to The Rock. Council parking fees currently apply, with the car park charged at an hourly rate and a daily maximum.

For the latest parking fees, time limits and availability, we recommend checking the signage at the car park or the Toowoomba Parking app before leaving your car.
