FUNCTION VENUES IN TOOWOOMBA

HOW TO PICK THE RIGHT SPACE FOR YOUR EVENT

Guests celebrating at a function on Level One at The Rock

Booking a function is one of those jobs that looks simple until you start ringing around. Every venue quotes differently, some prices include the room and some don't, and it isn't always clear whether the space you're paying for is actually yours for the night. Here's what to sort out first, whichever of the function venues in Toowoomba you end up choosing.

Start with the number, then the vibe

Guest numbers change everything, so pin down a rough figure before you look at rooms. Thirty people standing around a bar feels lively, thirty people in a room built for 150 feels like a school assembly. Ask each venue for both the standing and seated capacity, because the same space can hold very different crowds depending on how it's set.

Room hire, minimum spend, or both

Most venues charge one of two ways. A booking fee covers the room along with your event staff, furniture and equipment. A minimum spend is the amount you need to spend across food and drinks before the night counts as worth holding the space. Some venues charge both, so ask for the full picture in writing, including what does and doesn't count towards the spend.

Is it private, or private-ish

There's a real difference between exclusive use and a roped off corner of a public bar. Neither is wrong, but you want to know which one you're getting, especially for a milestone birthday or a work event where speeches are involved. Ask whether the bar in your space is yours alone, and whether other guests can wander through.

Food that suits the format

Canapés keep people moving and talking. A seated menu slows things down in a good way and works when there are speeches. Grazing tables are a strong opener because guests can help themselves while everyone arrives. Whichever way you go, tell the venue about dietary requirements early rather than on the day.

The spaces at The Rock

We have two dedicated function spaces on Ruthven Street. Level One, in our Top Bar, is an exclusive use space for up to 150 guests standing, with its own private bar, big screens and a dance floor. Room 1911 is the smaller, secluded option, seating up to 40 for a banquet or holding 60 standing, with a private bar and dedicated event staff. There's also a boardroom for corporate meetings with AV and video conferencing.

Our functions pack has the full list of inclusions, menus and beverage packages. Download it from the functions page, or send an enquiry and Louise, our Events Manager, will talk you through it.
